Mobile Clinic Demo at TMMC

On Friday, November 11th, a demostration of the MMA Mobile Medical Clinic was held at Torrance Memorial Medical Center. In attendance were members of the TMMC administration as well as representatives from other organizations such as the Salvation Army and local churches. Torrance Memorial is considering the possibility of hosting a monthly clinic using the MMA mobile clinic. Below is a short video of the Mobile Clinic demonstration. MMA Invited to Host Clinic for Homeless Children

We have received an invitation from a school principal to put on a medical, dental and optical clinic in December for approximately 50 children that are homeless and living in cars with their mothers or fathers. The school will be having a Christmas party for them and presenting them with gifts. We will arrange to supply the children and their parents with dental care.
It is estimated that there are 292,000 people homeless in California. 1 out of 28 children do not know where their next meal will come from. When it comes to receiving medical services, California ranks 40th out of all 50 state. Less than 25% of these homeless children will graduate from high school. 51% are Hispanic, 35% are white and the balance is a mix of other races. While in school, these homeless kids blend in with the others but after school they spend much of their time in public places like libraries in order to have access to lights, warmth and computers. They will use gas stations to wash and brush their teeth in and often spend the nights parked in well-lit parking lots.

Mobile Clinic Opens its Doors at Victory Outreach

The MMA Mobile Medical Clinic was put into use for the first time on February 5th as it opened its doors to provide dental care at Victory Outreach in Arleta. Thirty-Six people, both adults and children, lined up early Saturday morning to receive a variety of dental services free of charge from our dedicated staff of dental professionals.

Patients began with an orientation where they learned about Medical Mission Adventures' history and vision. Then they completed the required registration paperwork and submitted it to the MMA registration volunteers for processing. Next came the x-rays and assessment of their dental needs. Then off to the waiting area for the next available dentist.

We had three dental stations in full operation and have received many positive comments regarding the quality services received.

MMA HISTORY
MMA was founded by Louie Rosado, who has been traveling extensively since 1972 scouting and preparing, setting up centers all around the world.

In the year 2000 we began providing free medical clinics in public parks joining efforts with local hospitals and schools. The success of these clinics was tremendous, providing as many as one thousand individuals with medical care, food, back to school supplies and referrals from the multitude of agencies available through the local cities. Since then, we have been doing the same all over the world and have operated medical clinics in such places as Cambodia, Armenia, Tajikistan, Sri Lanka, Mexico, and Cuba.

Louie has been a licensed respiratory therapist since 1986 and is currently employed at Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Burbank, California.

Through his dedicated service and organizational skills, Louie has enabled MMA to make the trips safe and enjoyable for our participants as well as successfully providing the much needed medical care to those we serve!
